Art exhibitions:

Benalmadena

Estampaciones: The Benalmadena exhibition centre is currently exhibiting the works on great artists such as Picasso, Miró, Kandinsky, Warhol, Munch, Bacon and Henry Moore. A selection of Andy Warhol’s famous Marilyn pop art prints will also be on show. The exhibition will be open until April 24th, opening hours are from 10:00 -14:00 and 17:00 -19:30, and on Sundays 11:00 – 13:30 Admission is free.

Malaga

Kippenberger Meets Picasso: The Museo Picasso is currently exhibiting German artist Martin Kippenberger’s work. The fabulously talented Kippenberger is showcasing his artwork that is directly related to Pablo Picasso who held a strong influence over him through out his artistic career.

The exhibition will be showcasing 55 pieces consisting of paintings, drawing and sculptures, plus video images with commentary and interviews documenting his work from 1979-1997. Open Tuesdays to Thursdays from 10:00-20:00, Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00-21:00, Sundays and public holidays from 10:00-20:00. Tel:952127600

Mijas Costa

Buds of Spring: Hosted at El Jinete, Carretera Cala Golf. Six members of the Andalusian International Artists Group will be profiling six pieces of their work in the art forms of acrylic, watercolour, oil and cross-stitch. The exhibition will be open until 2nd May, opening hours are 13:00- 22:00 on Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu and Sat. Tel: 952 592 652.

Mijas

Open air Flamenco dancing in the Plaza Virgen de la Pena, Mijas Village every Wednesday from 12pm.

Lets Dance Roc

Learn to dance modern jive (Ceroc) with dance instructors who will teach you a new routine in the first hour. No need to book and no need to bring a partner. Dancing starts at 20:30 and admission is 10 Euros. Tel: 635 717 211

Benahavis

Car boot sale: Held every Sunday and located at the La Hermita Park. There are a wide variety of artisan, antique and second hand items to buy or sell. Opening times are 10:00-14:00. Tel: 609 544 004.

Vélez Málaga

Country Farmers Market: Held every Tuesday and located at Los Jardines del Trapiche, the market sells arts & crafts and a range of organic produce. Opening times are 10:00-14:00.

Villafranco del Guadalhorcets

Sunday Market: Held weekly and located at the Bar La Masia (Pescador Bar) in Villafranco, the charming small village market specialises in homemade food produce. There’s also a low-cost bric-a-brac stall with all clothing items costing just 1 euro each, and all proceeds going to La Trocha CHAIN charity shop, (charity that helps Malaga’s abused and neglected animals). Opening times are 10:30-14:00.
