Do you need health insurance while living in Spain?

If you rent long term in Spain or are planning to this year, one important thing to remember is international health insurance. We don’t generally like to think about going to the doctors or being ill when moving to a beautiful warm country, but better to be safe than sorry when it comes to health. Now that you rent long term in Spain, we would definitely recommend taking out medical insurance for yourself and family to save you from what could be a very hefty bill.  Healthcare, in Spanish, is free to those who pay social security contributions or who are officially retired. However if you can’t speak Spanish, are under the retirement age or unemployed, medical insurance really is essential to give you peace of mind.
