Marbella Fair – La Feria de San Barnabé

If you’re living in the Marbella area and looking for something traditional to do with the family, then you should definitely visit the Marbella San Bernabe annual fair. It’s a chance to soak up the Spanish culture and a fantastic way to meet local people and feel part of the community. It’s a fun filled week and will especially keep you busy if you’ve got children to entertain. This year the fair will be from 6th-12th June.

Marbella hosts the fair each year paying homage to it’s patron Saint San Bernabe (Saint Bernard). The colourful fair is full of traditional Spanish entertainment including dance performances, music and plenty of food and drink. There’s also a fireworks display the night before the fair starts, where locals and tourist head to the beach to mark the occasion. The important day to remember is Saturday 11th June as this is the actual day that people pay homage to San Bernabe, this day is also significant as it marks the conquest of the Catholic Kings over the Moors in 1485.

With plenty of things to see and do in the week and to ensure you don’t miss out on anything, it’s a good idea to pick up a fair guide at either the tourist office or one that’s included within the local paper.
